What is the Third Coast?

Third Coast cities generally have large metropolitan populations, tend to be regional, national and sometimes, world leaders in culture, industry, or business and are located on or near large bodies of water besides oceans. Places outside of the Great Lakes may use the term "third coast" such as Houston, Austin and Atlanta. In these cities, the connotation of the term aligns with the Gulf Coast.
